Kenwood KD-600 Direct Drive Turntable
The Kenwood KD-600 is a legendary, high-end direct-drive turntable from the golden era of Japanese audio engineering. Highly sought after by audiophiles and collectors alike, this heavyweight powerhouse is famous for its revolutionary ARCB (Anti-Resonance Resin Concrete Base) plinth.
Constructed from a dense mix of limestone, particles, and resin, it is virtually inert, completely eliminating external vibrations and acoustic feedback.
This particular unit has been meticulously inspected, fully calibrated, and serviced in our Auckland workshop. It features a RCA junction box upgrade so you can use your own RCA cabling and comes fitted with a brand-new cartridge.
So why buy it?
Ultra-Dense Resin Concrete Base: The massive, high-inertia base acts like a literal rock, blocking any mechanical or room vibrations from reaching the platter, resulting in an incredibly silent, pitch-black background.
Legendary Direct Drive System: Driven by a high-torque, quartz-locked brushless DC motor that reaches perfect speed instantly. With no belts to stretch or replace, it delivers legendary speed accuracy, rock-solid timing, and deep, punchy bass performance.
Upgraded RCA Junction Box Modification: We have custom-fitted a high-quality RCA junction box to the rear of the turntable, replacing the fixed factory output cable. This premium upgrade allows you to easily use your own high-end audiophile RCA phono cables and ground wire to perfectly match your setup.
Upgraded Kenwood S-Shaped Tonearm: While the KD-600 originally shipped without an arm, this unit has been outfitted with the exceptional 10-inch Kenwood S-shaped tonearm originally native to the sister KD-650 model. It is a high-precision, low-friction arm with a detachable headshell that tracks beautifully.
Brand New Audio-Technica AT-VM95C: It will be fitted with a brand-new VM95 series moving magnet (MM) cartridge. It delivers a clean, wonderfully balanced sound with exceptional tracking. It also offers a brilliant upgrade path - the stylus can easily be swapped later for an elliptical (EN), microlinear (ML), or Shibata (SH) needle without changing the entire cartridge body.
Good Condition Dust Cover: Includes a clear acrylic dust cover that is in great structural condition with light surface scratches but no chips or cracks. Please note that the rear hinges do not hold the cover up (a very common trait for this heavy-lidded model), so the cover is used as a lift-off dust protector.
Fully Serviced by Turntable Guy: Professionally checked, calibrated, and tuned in our workshop so you can buy with total confidence and enjoy true audiophile-grade direct drive playback.
